How to Fix the HDCP Error on Apple TV

Do you often see HDCP error, blank, flickering or static screen on your Apple TV? You are not alone to have encountered this issue. One of my friends had run into the same problem a couple of days ago. Fortunately, he was able to fix it using these tricks. Let’s find out!

How to Fix the HDCP Error on Apple TV

Solution #1
Step #1. First off, you need to unplug both ends of your HDMI cable and firmly plug them back in.
Step #2. Next up, you will have to turn off your TV and receiver.
Step #3. Now, unplug your Apple TV from power, plug it back in.
Step #4. Turn your receiver and TV back on.
Step #5. Select the HDMI input that matches the HDMI port connected to your Apple TV in the TV’s menu.
Step #6. Connect your Apple TV directly to your TV without using a receiver or HDMI switch as the receiver or switch might be the culprit.
Step #7. Try a different HDMI cable to check out if the issue is with your cable.
Solution #2
Try to adjust the HDMI and display settings on your Apple TV, if there are issues related to video.
Step #1. Head over to the Settings on your TV.
Step #2. Select Audio and Video. (In case, the screen is blank and you are unable to go to settings, use your remote to change the resolution.)
#1. For Apple TV (4th generation), you need to hold Menu and Volume Down for five seconds. For Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), you will have to hold Menu and Up for five seconds.
#2. Once you let go of the buttons, the TV will switch to a new resolution every 20 seconds. You will need to select OK to choose a resolution and then select Cancelto quit.
