Netflix for iPad now supports picture-in-picture

Netflix has released a new update on the App Store, now the official iOS app of the popular streaming video platform has reached version 8.7.

Actually it is a minor update, but brings a very interesting and highly anticipated feature by users of iOS ... support with picture-in-picture function.

Picture-in-picture is one of the functions of multitasking iPad that allows users to view videos in the foreground, and overlap, while in the background using other applications.

Now you can follow your Netflix marathons while you look to your social networks

Now users who have an iPhone compatible with the picture-in-picture function will be able to see series, films and documentaries from Netflix through a small floating and resizable window while still using other applications.

Compatible with picture-in-picture iPad are: iPad Mini 2 Mini 3 Mini 4, iPad Air, Air 2, and new models iPad Pro (12.9-inch and 9.7-inch).

This update, therefore, is ideal for anyone wishing to continue their binge-watching on Netflix while chatting on messages, check the latest trends on Twitter, or browsing the web in Safari.

Of course, to enjoy the picture-in-picture function Netflix iOS 9.3.2 or later is required to have installed.

To enable picture-in-picture, as we reported in our guide multitasking , just to do a "double tap" on the video to full screen, or clicking the New button on the VCR located in the lower right corner. Then the video will be transformed into a small overlay window that can be resized and repositioned through touch gestures.
