How to Enable iPhone or iPad into DFU Mode ?

DFU stands for Default Firmware Update.Recovery mode and DFU (Device Firmware Update) iPhone allow us to restore the device firmware using iTunes. Visually we can differentiate from each other because in the first (recovery mode) is displayed on the screen of the iPhone the iTunes logo while the second (DFU mode) screen remains in black.

When ----------

When iTunes does not recognize the device or say that it is in recovery mode.
When you see the Apple logo on the screen for several minutes and the progress bar does not appear.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen.

How To Enter DFU Mode - You can put your iOS device into recovery mode and then restore with iTunes.

  • Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.(Mac or PC)
  • Press and hold the Sleep / Wake Button and Home Button together for 8 seconds.(all other iPhones, iPods, and iPads)
  • After 8 seconds, release the Sleep / Wake Button but continue to hold the Home Button until iTunes says “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.”iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode
  • Let go of the Home Button. Your iPhone’s display will be completely black if you’ve successfully entered DFU mode. If it’s not, try again from the beginning.
  • Restore your iPhone using iTunes.

How to exit DFU mode on the iPhone

Exiting DFU Mode and returning to normal mode is easy enough. Simply hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
