Snapchat has made some minor tweaks to its iPhone application that takes advantage certain performance characteristics that are present in IOS 9 which allow the app reduce battery consumption, when it is low on power.
Earlier this week, Snapchat made a small update to its free iPhone application on the App Store. Snapchat now with the version number 9.37, it has a slight optimization for low power mode in the operating system for mobile devices that debuted in iOS in September last year.
"When the device is in low power mode, Snapchat now automatically reduce battery use," according to the release notes accompanying a 96.1 MB download.
Developers do not specify how the application to reduce battery usage when the device enters low power mode.
This new feature can be activated or deactivated by a switch located under Settings (Settings) -> battery, low power mode. This helps reduce battery consumption by closing services like Hey Siri, update applications in the background, automatic downloads, some visual effects, among other things.
However, to take advantage of this feature, specifically applications should use the API to detect when Apple has enabled low power mode to maximize this. In this case Snapchat with its new update, it uses Apple API to implement low power mode in your application.
Hopefully more and more applications take advantage of Apple API to implement low power mode, above all in the jailbreak tweaks.
Snapchat requires iOS 8.1 or later and is available for free in the App Store.
