Facebook Messenger received a major upgrade, focusing on the new features of iOS 10. The app now supports CallKit to make audio calls (VoIP) and function as the classic cellular calls.
The application now displays the incoming VoIP calls Messenger contacts on the lock screen and standard controls such as buttons mute, add call, etc.
Besides the classic buttons that appear on an incoming call, the lock screen experience Messenger provides custom buttons to start a video conversation or enter directly into Messenger.
In versions prior to iOS 10 VoIP calls coming from applications such as WhatsApp Messenger and appear on the lock screen by classical notifications. Moreover, while an incoming call Messenger may do other things while the call is answered is accepted.
To return to the call screen Messenger, all you have to do is press on the banner incoming call iOS, located at the top of the screen.
This is not all, as the Messenger VoIP calls can be captured in the section "Recent" phone. You can also add contacts to favorites Messenger on mobile, among other interesting new features.
Still, Messenger does not yet seem leverage Siri API, which can be very useful to ask him to call a person or send a message to a particular contact.
With these new features, instant messaging app Facebook, has made an update focusing primarily on leveraging the new features of iOS 10 for people to have a better user experience.
