Apple iPhone 7 sold at a starting price of $ 900 (59000 INR) in India

The debut of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in India today is given, but at a steep price. The new smartphone from Apple costs more than an average Indian citizen earns in six months due to tax local import taking the selling price of the iPhone in July basis of $ 649 and 32 GB and increases at a price of $ 900. Another clear example is the iPhone 7 Plus 256GB which happens to have an exorbitant price of $ 1.382.

The biggest challenge Apple faces today are India imposes tariffs on imported handsets, which greatly increases the price of the iPhone in the country.

Now, to get in position, the Indian e-commerce site Flipkart has these prices for different models of the iPhone 7:

  • 7 iPhone 32GB - 60,000 rupees ($ 898)
  • iPhone 7 256GB - 80,000 rupees ($ 1.202)
  • iPhone 7 Plus 256GB - 92,000 rupees ($ 1.382)

By comparison, the World Bank estimates that an annual salary of a person in India in 2015 was $ 1,581.60, versus an annual salary of $ 55,836.80 for an average citizen of the United States.

In an August survey it was estimated that 27.5 million devices sold in India during the April-June quarter, experienced a 17.1 percent increase from the previous quarter and an increase of 3.7 percent over the previous year. Research estimates that India accounts for less than one percent of global revenues from sales of smartphones from Apple.

The share of smartphone maker Cupertino company in the country with a total of 1.25 billion people, is located in less than an estimated five percent.

Finally, it is noteworthy that the company is working to open stores in India and has been trying to sell iPhones "refurbished" at a lower price.
