For years there have been predictions that China will gradually become the largest market for Apple, beating USA. The weak Chinese economy shows that this can not happen in hardware, but the latest data from App Annie tell us that China has already managed to become the largest market for Apple software.
The software ahead of the hardware
Certainly China has surpassed the United States, and has thus become the largest market for Apple in terms of applications sold on the App Store iOS, earning about $ 1.7 trillion in the third quarter of 2016.
We had predicted in the first quarter of this year Apple's income from China would grow rapidly in the iOS platform to the point of being behind the United States. However, China has surpassed even this country.
Consumers know what they want
The rapid growth of the Chinese market is a little hand with earlier predictions. We can also see the importance of games in total sales of the App Store, since while they represent only 25% of all apps, generate about 75% of the profits.
App Annie also highlighted the global success of Pokémon Go, which reached 600 million in revenue in less than a hundred days. Candy Crush, on the other hand, needed two times longer to achieve the same amount. Pokémon Go remains the most downloaded app in the App Store, ahead of Facebook, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
The domain of the games seem to change later. In China, this area is only the second with rapid growth, just behind applications like video streaming Iqiyi, Tencent and Youku Video.
The market of this Asian country seems to be continuously growing every day. Apple has already noticed its importance, and China now has not one, but two R & D centers under construction.
The Chinese seem to prefer Apple's software that your hardware, why do you think that is?
