Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States of America. Despite Trump's harsh words about boycotting his products, Apple could benefit from the election of the forty-fifth president of the United States.
TRUMP: "WE WILL FORCE APPLE TO FABRICATE ITS DAMN DEVICES IN OUR COUNTRY."
Both Donald Trump and Apple, which is curiously positioned in favor of Hillary Clinton, want to repatriate the profits of foreign subsidiaries drastically reducing tax rates.
Apple has long reformed the policy of foreign affiliates' fees, and Donald Trump promised to do so at a conference that took place at the New York Economic Club.
"WE WILL BRING THE WEALTH BACK, AND WE WILL MAKE TAXES LOWER TO 10% INSTEAD OF 35%. IN DOING SO, ALL THIS MONEY WILL RETURN TO OUR COUNTRY. "
In fact, Tim Cook said in 2013 that 35% were "too high" income tax to repatriate to the United States.
In its latest earnings report Apple had cash reserves of 237 billion dollars, much of which remain abroad.
Donald Trump has not been the first to propose a tax exemption to companies that are in the same position as Apple. The United States Senate also wanted to consider a new tax rate, but the plan did not go ahead.
At the moment we do not know what will be the policy of Donald Trump, new president of the United States, with respect to technology. But we are quite sure that their decisions will be very controversial, very aggressive, and will give much to talk about.
