It seems that Facebook will soon integrate advanced filters and effects for your photos and videos for both the official iOS and Android application.
Using artificial intelligence algorithms and high performance neural networks directly on the device, these filters allow users to give their photos a pleasant and picturesque result.
The social network has revealed that the next effects to live photo and video Caffe2Go make use of a new platform of deep learning of Facebook that can capture, analyze and process pixels in real time on a mobile device.
According to the Facebook engineer, Schroepfer:
Just three months ago, we set out to do something no one else had done before: transferring styles by means of artificial intelligence that runs in real time on mobile devices.
This was an engineering challenge, since we needed to design software that can execute high-power computing operations on a resource-constrained device ...
The result is Caffe2Go, a new deep learning platform that can capture, analyze and process pixels in real time on a mobile device.
The engineer explains that they had to condense the size of the artificial intelligence model used to process the files by a factor of one hundred, to be able to run neural networks with high efficiency in iOS and Android.
With Coffee2Go, you can apply effects to your photos, videos or even live broadcasts, right in the palm of your hand, similar to the effects of photo and video in real time that are in the default application of the camera the Iphone.
It is not yet known when the exact date will be when these new filters will be integrated into the main Facebook application.
