How to hide the Sierra macOS update banner

You've probably noticed that when you open the Mac App Store and visits Tab updates if you're on a Mac compatible with Sierra will see a big banner upgrade macOS Sierra, prompting you to install the latest update of the operating system software. This new feature is very useful, it makes it easy to install the update if it has somehow been overlooked. But not all users want to see the big banner update to Sierra, so we will teach you a brief tutorial that will serve to hide that banner.

How to hide the MacOS Sierra banner update

  • Go to the main menu and open the updates for the Mac App Store
  • Click on the "Updates" tab to see the "macOS Sierra" upgrade banner.
  • Right click (or control + click) on the update banner and select "Hide update"

  • Use the Mac App Store as usual or close it in case you do not need to do anything else.

The upgrade banner for MacOS Sierra will no longer take up most of the Mac App Store updates screen, providing more screen space for typical software updates.
