Chris Lattner , creator of Swift, has announced through an open letter that he will leave his position at Apple later this month to become part of Tesla's work team.
" Since Apple launched Swift in WWDC 2014, Swift's team has worked closely with our entire developer community. When we did Swift open source and launched Swift.org we put all our effort into creating a solid structure for the community. This structure has allowed Apple and the incredible Swift community to work together to evolve Swift in a mature and powerful language that allows the creation of software used by hundreds of millions of people.
I am happy to announce that Ted Kremenek will replace me as project leader for the Swift project, managing the administrative and leadership responsibilities of Swift.org. It is a recognition of the incredible effort that has put into this project and is a result of the decision I have taken to leave Apple later this month, looking for an opportunity in another space. This decision has not been taken lightly and I want you all to know that I am still fully committed to Swift.
Note that this will not mean a change of structure - for one that already has a defined role - and we do not expect this to impact the day-to-day operations on the Swift core team in any meaningful way. Ted and I just want to communicate what's happening as part of our commitment to maintaining a seamless structure with Swift.org for our entire community . "
In this way, the current Apple project boss says goodbye to his workers to announce that Ted Kremenek Will be the leader of the team from now on.
No doubt this news is a blow to Apple , especially if the rumors about the company's hypothetical electric car are real.
