How to Play a Live Photo in the Photo App for Mac OS

If you do not know how to play your Live Photos on Mac, then we'll teach you a little tutorial to know how to do it. In fact, in some respects it is actually easier to play a Live Photo in the Mac Photo app than to do it from the Mac Message App, and simply place the cursor on the image in the photos app to get the playback of a Live Photo.

It may sound obvious, but make sure you have at least one Live Photo in the Mac application photo library. You can easily take a photo with the iPhone camera and then copy them into the Mac photo app if necessary.

How to Play a Live Photo in the Photo App for Mac OS

  • Here's how to play the video portion of a Live Photo in the Mac OS Photo app:
  • Open the Mac Photo app and then open any album where a Live Photo is located
  • Open any Live Photo that is in the album
  • Pass the mouse cursor over the file of interest to play the video part of the Live Photo in the photos app

This type of file is represented by the small concentric circle and the text "Live" in the upper right corner of the image.

And this is all you have to do, it's easy and just requires you to quickly move the mouse cursor or trackpad over a Live Photo. You can replay a Live Photo in the Mac Photo app by just moving the cursor away from the image and back on it once too.
