Apple Music exceeds 20 million subscribers

According to Eddy Cue Apple Music has far surpassed the 20 million subscribers . This was announced by the Recode Media Conference.

Eddy Cue explained that Apple Music continues to grow, but Apple is not satisfied and will continue to try to increase the number of subscriptions to its streaming music services.

Cue declined to offer a specific number of Apple Music subscribers, but said that "they have far exceeded 20 million."

Apple Music has won one million subscribers in 4 months

In September, Apple announced that its streaming music service had reached 19 million subscribers. 4 months later, the company has already surpassed 20 million and is possibly reaching 21 million active subscribers.

Eddy Cue also explained that while Apple Music continues to grow, the company is not satisfied with the service and sees much room for improvement exponentially.

One of the most interesting data he shared at the conference was the 100 million subscribers to some streaming music service . But, obviously, the number of people who listen to music daily is much higher. And Apple wants that kind of consumers.

At the conference Eddy Cue was also asked about Apple's efforts to secure the exclusive rights of the music industry . The executive responded that exclusive rights are a promotional strategy, far from a long term term for artists.

According to Eddy Cue part of Apple's strategy is not to secure exclusive rights, but to work with artists from beginning to end, as it did in the past with artists like Chance the Rapper and Drake.

To conclude, it is interesting to note as we are informed from the 9to5mac blog that Ben Silverman accompanied Eddy Cue on the conference stage to talk about his work as a producer on Apple's Planet of the Apps show. He also joined Ben Winston, producer of Carpool Karaoke .
