How to create a USB flash drive c macOS High Sierra

At the WWDC conference in 2017 on Monday, Apple announced the next version of the macOS High Sierra platform. The first beta for developers was almost immediately available.

The following guide will help you create a USB bootable disk with MacOS 10.13 High Sierra, which allows you to install the update on several computers without having to re-download, perform a clean installation, and keep a copy safe in case of possible problems.

To create a "pendrive" with macOS High Sierra, you need a copy of the mac os 10.13 beta of the high Sierra and the external 8gb drive. It is worth noting that at this time the operating system is only available in the trial version for developers. The fact that it is not registered in the testing program, should wait for the public beta.

How to create a usb boot drive with macOS High Sierra:

Step 1. Download the Beta High Sierra installation file and make sure it is in the "Utilities" folder. By default, all programs are loaded here from the Mac App Store. If the file has been downloaded to another folder you want to move. For your convenience, we recommend leaving the default name Install macOS 10.13 Beta.

Step 2. Connect the USB drive to your Mac. If it does not have the format, you must do it with the help of the Disk utility. It is worth noting that on the disk there should be important and data files, as they will all be deleted.

Step 3. For convenience we will call a USB stick. Make sure the computer is not connected to other drives with this title.

Step 4. Open the Terminal application and type the following command to move the installation file to a USB stick and make it boot:

Sudo / Applications / Install macOS 10.13 Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia -volume / Volumes / USB -applicationpath / Applications / Install macOS 10.13 Beta.app -nointeraction

If you have used other names for the installation and disk file, edit the command and pass them in the appropriate direction. If the file has not been moved in the "Utility" application, you must edit the command and specify its current location.

Step 5. Type the password for your account, after which the process of creating a bootable-ROM USB with macOS High Sierra starts.

At this time the USB drive is not available on the desktop. The whole process can take from 10 to 15 minutes. Once all the files are copied, the disk reappears on the desktop, and the Terminal will inform you when the process is finished.

How to use the usb boot drive with macOS 10.13 High Sierra:

Step 1. To install macOS 10.13 High Sierra with the "pendrive", start the computer connected to it the USB memory key, hold Alt (Option).

Step 2. On the download volume selection screen specify a disc named Install macOS 10.13 Beta. After that, the installation window for the beta version of the new operating system will appear on the screen.
