IOS 11: Drag and drop is much more functional than on a PC

During Apple's WWDC 17 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif., The Cupertino firm introduced its new versions of software belonging to iOS, tvOS, watchOS and macOS. In the case of iOS 11 , all kinds of interesting new features like the redesign of the Dock , the customization in the Control Center or the improvements in multitasking were revealed.

In terms of multitasking on iOS 11, Apple surprised everyone (though the rumors were already ahead) with the advent of drag and drop functionality that allows you to move elements (photos, videos, files, text) from an application to other.

The drag-and-drop feature in iOS 11, from the perspective of consumer use, is quite simple and intuitive . All you have to do is to hold your finger on an item, and once selected, move your finger on the screen to drop it where you want.

In the iPhone the destination of the element is limited to the same application , but in the iPad it is possible to move an item to an application in the Dock, an application in Split View or an App Switcher application.

In addition, iOS 11 also allows you to move multiple items at the same time . And this does not only concern photographs, videos or files, but is also available for application icons . And the method is much more intuitive than on any desktop PC.

On a PC you find yourself selecting items with the cursor with the limitation that they are in the same zone . Also, not all programs work when dragging and dropping elements.

The only drawback of this new feature to drag and drop items from one app to another in iOS 11 is that users are unaware of which native and third-party applications are supported . Once everything is clear, the possibilities offered by this feature are unlimited.
