The iPhone 7 is the most eco-friendly smartphone on the market, according to Greenpeace

Greenpeace has recently begun a campaign based on the reparability of smartphones, tablets and laptops of technology companies . The organization immersed in the struggle and protection of the environment now seeks to combat the planned obsolescence of the technology industry.

Greenpeace has partnered with iFixit to access hardware from 40 different devices that have been launched over two years between 2015 and 2017 and using iFixit's reparability ratings as a basis for data collection.

The Apple products included in the Greenpeace campaign are the iPhone 7, the iPhone 7 Plus, the iPad Pro 9.7 inches, the iPad 5th generation, the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 12-inch MacBook (updated 2017).

The iPhone 7 stands out for the repairs and replacements of its screen

The categories rated in the Greenpeace campaign have been: battery replacement, screen repair, the need to use special tools and spare parts available.

Apple products that have had a worse reparability rating on Greenpeace's list have been the different MacBook models (with a 1/10) and iPad models (with a 2/10).

On the other hand, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus got a score of 7/10 , with positive mentions on their screen. Therefore, we could say that it is the two most eco-friendly smartphones on the market.

As for Microsoft, it has had enough problems with the Greenpeace tests. Its Surface Pro 5 and its Surface Book had a rating of 1/10. The greenest brands, according to Greenpeace, are HP, Dell and Fairphone .

Greenpeace already awarded Apple previously naming it as the technology company most concerned about the environment . This time they have taken the opportunity to send a request to all the companies inviting to create products that are greener, more durable and more repairable.
