The incredible figures of WhatsApp and the empire Facebook

The popular messaging app WhatsApp proudly announced today that it has reached the staggering 1,000 million active users . Overwhelming numbers that drive content traffic within the application: more than 1.3 billion registered users, 55 billion messages a day, 4,500 million photos shared daily and more than 1 billion videos shared each day. Brutal!

The spokespersons of the application explained as follows:

JUST A YEAR AGO, WE SHARED THAT 1 BILLION PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WERE USING WHATSAPP EVERY MONTH. TODAY, WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT THOSE 1 BILLION PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD USE WHATSAPP EVERY DAY TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

A little more than a couple of months ago, we heard a news that echoed something surprising: Facebook had banished WhatsApp as the most used messaging app , with a whopping 1.9 billion users registered for WhatsApp's 1.2 billion.

As we see, both applications - owned by Mark Zuckerberg - top the podium and continue to grow strong . In fact, last month Facebook announced that it already had 2 billion active users for the 1,300 WhatsApp. Much more humbly grows Instagram and Snapchat, which in June announced that they had 250 million and 166 million active users, respectively.

We can not forget Facebook Messenger , which ranks fourth after Facebook, WhatsApp and Youtube. This fact reveals a surprising reality: 3 of the first 4 most popular apps are owned by Mark Zuckerberg, who owns a communication empire that looks like it's about to end soon.

In the meantime, they are still looking for ways to further monetize their hegemony through business-oriented formulas, in the case of WhatsApp Business or even face YouTube as a video platform.
