Do not feel bad again for wasting time on Facebook

I look because the numbers are overwhelming: in the planet Earth there are more than 3,000 million people who each day access their respective social networks . For us to understand, approximately half of the population uses part of their day updating their status, uploading videos and photos or, ultimately, telling their story.

We have known these huge figures thanks to a study by Hootsuite and We Are Social that has been published by The Next Web. Specifically, there are 3.028 million active users in the world, a brutal number considering that it is estimated that there are 7.524 million people on the planet. This is still one more sample of the incredible power of social networks and evidence that 40% of the population has access to the internet and therefore has at least one profile in networks. The main cause of all this? The smartphone, with a base of 2.80 billion people who have one.

In addition, it is that these numbers continue to grow year by year . In fact, only since April has there been an increase of 4%, which is equivalent to 121 million people. This is about a million new users a day. But of course, these numbers do not affect growing giants to one network as much as others.

We will not surprise anyone if we affirm that Facebook is the social network reigns supreme, with a monthly number of active users of 2,047 million. In addition, the group of Zuckerberg owns WhatsApp and Messenger, that occupy respectively the third and fourth position. A little further down is Instagram, with 700 million active users per month.

So the next time you find yourself wasting your time on Facebook or Twitter , do not feel too bad, because you're not alone: half of the planet's population is doing the same as you.
