Tricks to protect your account from criminals and hackers and surf the internet safely

Frauds and scams are becoming more frequent on Facebook. They are more than 1.90 trillion registered users and it is very common to read that some friends had their account stolen or invaded.

Tricks to protect your account from criminals and hackers and surf the internet safely

1. Use strong and different passwords for each service or platform you sign up for:
Uses alphanumeric codes, symbols and alternates between uppercase and lowercase letters;
Prefer codes with at least 8 characters;
Avoid predictable combinations like birthday dates, phone numbers or any other logical sequence;
Change the passwords once a month or whenever you feel it necessary.

2. Do not add as a friend a person you do not know. Before doing so, go into the profile of the person and see if there are similar photos, recent publications and if they have friends in common.

To prevent strangers from asking you for friendship, use Facebook's privacy features and post them to see only your friends, never in public mode.

3. Check the links before accessing them. Some links are created to deceive you with promotions, jobs, gifts ... Be careful! Before clicking, look at what Google is about, ask your friends if they know anything or directly to whom they shared it.

4. Have an antivirus installed on your phone and computer. Protection will detect and remove potential threats from your devices. For your cell phone of course we recommend DFNDR which is free and guarantees total protection and security for you to surf peacefully over the internet.

5. Turn on access notifications and manage the sections you keep on
Notifications will alert you when someone attempts to access your networks through a device other than the usual one. To activate this feature open your Facebook> Account Settings> Notifications> Edit. You choose where you want to receive the alerts, save and go.

6. Avoid accessing your networks on unknown phones or computers. It's no use keeping your devices protected if you're going to risk everything you've saved, including bank passwords on computers or public networks. Use only devices you can trust!
