WatchOS 4.1 comes with streaming music and radio for your watch

As with iOS 11.1 , the beta version of the watchOS 4.1 operating system just made its staging for developers. This new version incorporates some improvements directed mainly to the Apple Watch 4G - which is not yet available in Spain - focused on improving the music application and a new radio application with access to Beats 1 live and different radios Apple Music.

Music in the Apple Watch

The renewed music application appears to be the same as before, it shows us our libraries, recently played songs, playlists ... However, with this new version of watchOS all songs can be played online through the smartwatch 4G connection . You will not need to re-download songs to your Apple Watch anymore!

In addition, with this new update you will have full access to all Apple Music content . It will also be possible to ask Siri to play songs using WiFi or 4G and without the need to have an iPhone nearby. At this stage, soon we will not need a smartphone to stay connected.

New application: Radio

The new Radio application collects all available stations on Apple Music Radio and gives us access to Beats 1 radio content. Also, Siri will be able to create new radio stations if you ask for something similar to: "Play something relaxing" or "Reproduce Taylor Swift".

At the moment, it is not very clear if the streaming music using the 4G will consume more battery, in case this is so, we can always use the Bluetooth connection to the iPhone to get Internet through WiFi spending the least amount of battery possible.

Not much else to explain, the new watchOS 4.1 focuses on improving the music experience on our smart watch . In addition, at the moment only available in beta for developers, Apple never releases public beta versions of watchOS. In case you are one of the lucky developers, you can expect quite a few bugs and a higher battery consumption since it is a very early beta and will not be properly optimized.

For more information, here is a video of MacRumors in which they explain (in English) all these new functions in a graphical and detailed way.
