Apple calls for peace of mind in the face of a major bug affecting the home screen

Apple is working on the solution to an accessibility error that prevents the new iOS 11 from accessing the notifications screen from the center of the iPhone. Apple's engineering chief Craig Federighi answered the following question from a user.

" Since iOS 11 was released as a beta release, the ability to invoke the Notification Center from the middle of the screen in accessibility was removed. This was a very useful feature since you did not have to handle awkwardly to use your thumb ...

If this was done by design we do not see the purpose or any benefit for its elimination. If this is an error, we hope that Apple can solve this mess .

Federighi responded to the user's email with a short " We're fixing it, " which confirms that the issue will be addressed in a future version of iOS 11.

This accessibility feature, by tapping the start button twice, is designed to carry around the top of the iPhone screen making it a very comfortable option for small hands users and who also use a Plus model.

In iOS 10, when the accessibility gesture was used, a downward strike in the center of the screen just above the application line caused the notification center to go down. In iOS 11, the notification center and the lock screen have been merged into one , so a knock down in the center of the iPhone screen should lower the lock screen to display a user's notifications, but it does not work .

To access Cover Notifications on iOS 11, users have to slide down from the top of the iPhone screen , which means there's no way to access One-Touch Notifications through accessibility at this time.

It is unclear when the accessibility fix will be made, but it is not available on iOS 11.1 beta 2 , which we released this morning . Today's update, however, has brought back the 3D Touch App Switcher, another of the features that iOS users had missed.
