Happy Birthday Siri! This has changed in 6 years

On October 4, 2011, Apple hosted a multimedia event featuring Search for Friends, updated the iPod Nano and iPod Touch, and unveiled the iPhone 4S with its new Siri voice assistant. This means that today is his sixth birthday , although the assistant would not be available to the public until the launch of the iPhone 4S on October 14, 2011.

In Siri's original press releases, Apple promoted his voice to send text messages, schedule meetings, ask about the weather and more. Apple explained that Siri understood context and non-direct questions such as asking him about weather forecasting by asking " Will I need an umbrella this weekend? "

Siri on the iPhone 4S allowed you to use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, make phone calls and more. Ask Siri to do things by simply speaking the way you talk . Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean , and even asks again. Siri is so easy to use and so long, we will continue to find more and more ways to use it.

However, Apple did not create Siri, as the company acquired the technology that now prevails on all iOS devices by acquiring Siri, Inc, a spin-off from SRI International, where the technology originated .

Prior to the presence of the wizard on iPhone, Siri was a standalone application in the App Store (launched in February 2010) that offered automated personal assistant services through integrations with third-party applications such as OpenTable, FlightStats, Google Maps and more. Users can interact with these applications using Siri voice recognition technology, created by Nuance.

Just two months after Siri appeared on the App Store, reports of Apple's acquisition of Siri appeared in April 2010, and the purchase was quickly confirmed by representatives and members of the board of the company's recognition voice. According to Shawn Carolan, Siri's board member, " Apple's offer was one of scope and one tone that it was impossible to refuse ." The standalone application was removed from the App Store after Apple's presentation of its own Siri in October 2011 .

Over the years, Siri has released new features and expanded to more devices , including the iPad (June 2012), iPod Touch (September 2012), Apple Watch (April 2015), Apple TV with Siri Remote (September 2015) Sierra (September 2016) and HomePod (December 2017).

Since 2011, Siri has become a big enough part of Apple's brand that the company has just released this year a series of ads focused solely on the help of the assistant, aided by actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The latest version of iOS, iOS 11, has seen some improvements brought to Siri, including a more natural voice, text-to-speech and a translation function.

The next place where Siri is located is Apple's HomePod speaker, which for a long time was simply called "Siri Speaker" before its official opening at WWDC in June. HomePod will heavily depend on user interaction with Siri [, allowing music playback, HomeKit control, timer settings , news reports, and essentially most of the tasks that Siri can already do elsewhere.

More importantly, Siri will become a "musicologist" on HomePod and you will gain a greater understanding related to music to improve the position of HomePod as a high quality audio device.

Despite advances, many users often point out Siri's flaws and inconsistencies in certain situations . It has been rumored previously that Apple's development at Siri has been hampered by the company's commitments to privacy.

But in an interview last month, Apple's vice president of marketing, Greg Joswiak, argued that privacy of user data and an AI smart assistant can coexist : " We are able to deliver a very personalized experience ... without treating it like a product that holds your information and sells it to the highest bidder, but it's not the way we operate . "

So THANK YOU, SIRI!
