The next iPhone should have a radio yes or yes

Following Apple's clarification that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models do not have FM radio chips or antennas designed to support radio signals, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has expressed some concerns about Apple's statement and has asked the company that implements FM functionality for their future iPhones.

According to the NAB, the iPhone 8 uses a Broadcom chip with an integrated FM radio as evidence that Apple devices already have some of the equipment needed for FM radio support. According to Apple, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 currently do not have FM radio chips or antennas to support FM signals , and it is unclear how easy it would be for the company to add these features to future devices.

" Apple is deeply concerned about the safety of users, especially in times of crisis and that is why we have designed modern security solutions in our products. Users can dial emergency services and access medical ID card information directly from the lock screen, and activate emergency government notifications, ranging from AMBER alert weather warnings. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 do not have FM radio chips or have antennas designed to support FM signals, so it is not possible to enable FM reception on these products . "

The disagreement between Apple, the NAB, and the FCC is related to both their different points of view. The claim that recent Apple iPhone ++ do not have the hardware needed to support FM radio is true **, which means that Apple can not just push a software switch to turn it on.

Apple has built and delivers a wonderful FM application on your iPod Nano for many years. They know how to do the work in this regard, and it works well on their mobile devices. However, Apple has specifically chosen that they do not offer this functionality on their iPhone. In fact, Apple has disabled the FM chip despite the ability to be available in the iPhone's communications module . This means that other application developers can not offer FM applications either.

FM radio functionality on the iPhone began gaining media attention last month, following a series of powerful hurricanes that struck several US states. At that time, FCC president Ajit Pai issued a statement urging Apple to activate the FM radio capabilities on the iPhone .

" It's time for Apple to put the safety of the American people first, " Father wrote. "Do the right thing, Mr. Cook. Turn on the switch, there are lives that depend on it. "
