Google changes the management of Android battery in their smartphones

One of the biggest problems that we currently encounter in the world of smartphones is the rapid consumption of energy and what is the management of the battery itself. How battery consumption is managed is a problem that affects both Android and iOS devices and largely depends on how users use their devices.

It is not the first time that Google implements changes in the battery manager present in Android . With the release of Android 6 and 7 will come changes in the battery manager in Android, but these will not be the latest changes we see. Google is about to change again the energy management of their smartphones, making it smarter and abandoning some of the most used techniques. The final result is expected to be to lengthen the useful life of the battery and therefore lengthen the time a device can be turned on without needing to charge.

The way in which the management and presentation of energy consumption is done in Android is not very precise and tends to follow patterns that are not correct. As a result, not always the consumption and remaining battery values are the most accurate and this leads to error in the users.

Android tends to check battery life based on short patterns, using these patterns to calculate future consumption. This produces errors since there are situations that do not correspond to the expected one. If there is a consumption of 10% of the battery at a time, Android assumes it as a basis for the prediction of the remaining battery life in the future and presents data on the basis of that value, even if they are erroneous.

Soon we will see an improvement in this aspect and Android will evaluate the consumption of the user with a longer time base, seeking to detect patterns and behaviors, applying them later in the calculations of the consumptions and of the existing energy to be consumed.

This improvement, will be limited for now to the latest equipment released by Google, we refer to Google Pixel, Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. All these innovations of Android 8 Oreo will initially reach the company's flagship devices.

At the moment it is not known if these changes will be extended to the rest of Android devices. We remind you that Pixel devices had certain Premium features that would not reach all terminals. At the moment it is unknown if this will be one of them or not.

With this change Google is able to give its smartphones and Android in general a greater precision in consumption and, above all, a much more accurate estimate of the energy that is still available and that can be used. What will undoubtedly reduce in part the anger of the users of an Android phone because it runs out of battery. These "anger" would be greatly reduced when we can have batteries of greater capacity than the current ones ... but that is another war that is still being waged.

Greetings from the depths of the bytes.
