The Face ID would recognize you even if you were a zombie

The distinctive feature of the iPhone X is a sophisticated 3D facial recognition system, called Face ID, which is supposed to be incredibly fast and safe. It is also the reason why the full screen of iPhone X has a notch , to accommodate up to 8 sensors involved in this system.

As it seems, Face ID works as expected. It seems to be a great replacement of the Touch ID that will allow you to unlock the phone and authenticate payments as quickly. The system learns your face over time and ensures that you can access the device using your face, even if your face undergoes several changes.

But let's say that one becomes a zombie in the not too distant future. Would the Face ID still work on the iPhone X? Because apparently that 's something that the zombies would continue to do when they're not busy looking for brains.

The famous YouTuber iJustine partnered with a special effects makeup artist to change her appearance and try to trick Face ID into believing that she was a different person whose face should not be able to unlock the phone .

Before entering full zombie mode, Justine transformed her lips and nose with the help of prosthetics and makeup. Dan, the special effects boy, altered other areas of his face, making it look like he had suffered a serious accident. Despite the increases in fake skin and color changes, Face ID worked just as fast , able to recognize Justine's face and give her access to the phone.

Then he became a zombie and his appearance changed completely. You may not recognize her using all that makeup in real life. But guess what? Face ID still knew who he was and unlocked his iPhone X as expected.

The software continuously updates the mathematical representations of the face to keep up with these changes, and that is probably what happened with Justine. So, what happens when you remove all that fake facial skin and makeup? Face ID will work with your normal face? Yes, it will .
