Apple prepares universal apps, how will they affect the user?

Apple is working on a new project under the codename "Marzipan" that will allow applications for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to also be compatible in the macOS operating system .

In this way, the company of the bitten apple will offer its users a single set of applications specially designed to work, synchronize content and be much more accessible between their iOS devices and macOS .

The Marzipan project will begin to take shape at the beginning of 2018, when Apple will give developers the option to design an application that works "using a touch screen, mouse or trackpad" .

It will be the most drastic change in history on Apple's software platform

According to the anonymous source, Apple's plans will be part of an "effort over multiple years" to completely revolutionize the user experience of iOS and macOS .

There is still nothing decided about the Marzipan project, but it is likely that most of these changes will be announced during the next WWDC conference that will take place in mid-2018.

An Apple developer, Troughton-Smith, described the project as follows:

"It will be the biggest change in Apple's software platform since iOS was introduced."

Currently, developers such as Troughton-Smith must design applications separately for iOS and for macOS. As any developer will know, this consumes a lot of time and energy.

What changes will it imply for users?

For users, universal applications will determine great advantages. Not only will we not have to download (and update) apps in duplicate, but we can also synchronize data in a more efficient way and follow where we left it between different devices.

It is possible that the iOS and Mac App Store are merged into a single platform. Be that as it may, the iOS store received a great update recently, while the App Store for Mac has been unattended since 2014.

On the other hand, it is noteworthy that the fact that Apple unify their applications could lead to one of the biggest dreams of consumers of Apple products: the creation of a processor for both Mac and iOS devices.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has mentioned several times that the company does not plan to create a hybrid between iOS and macOS . But the trend in the market is precisely that, and the company could not be left behind ...
