Get ready for the winter solstice with these wallpapers

Next Thursday, December 21 we will have the winter solstice with us, in Spain it will take place at 5:48 p.m. The word solstice comes from Latin and means "still sun". It is the shortest day of the year, and the longest night. It marks the transition from autumn to winter, at noon the sun reaches the lowest point of the whole year . From this date the days begin to lengthen.

The ancient peoples of northern Europe began the winter solstice with a celebration called Yule, which means wheel and is related to the circular shape of the sun, and which was dedicated to fertility and abundance. Curiously, it coincided with the Mother's Night with which the Celtic peoples welcomed this solstice and had much to do with its agricultural calendar.

With the arrival of Christianity many ancient customs were adapted to the new times and with the winter solstice this celebration became Christmas as we know it now.

Well with all this perhaps it's time to look at the sky, which in December can become surprisingly clear, and inspire us to put some of these celestial wallpapers to our iPhone.

Remember that to download the wallpapers you just have to press the button to download and save the image that appears, then it will be enough to go to the settings of our iPhone to choose the downloaded image. So we can show them off and give a different touch to our device because, in fact, they are spectacular backgrounds.

We have loved to prepare this article like all we do. We wish that you have been to your liking and do not forget to follow us so as not to miss anything of what we publish, also visit our places on social networks. We will wait for you!
