Does the iPhone cause addiction?

A group of investors from Apple has met to write a letter publicly asking Apple to improve its parental control functions on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Interestingly, the letter has been titled "Think Different About Children" playing with Apple's "Think Different" slogan. The letter talks about the negative effects on children when using technology.

The letter asks Apple to add new features in iOS that allow parents to limit the time of use, monitoring and other functions . Apple is also being asked to assign an executive profile for this case, as well as to report on progress and annual progress.

Does Apple need to improve its parental control?

The truth is that technology, and especially the iPhone, causes a great addiction in minors. It is important that they know the technology at that early age, yes, but it is essential that they do it little by little if we do not want society to take the wrong direction.

The letter has highlighted research on how children and adolescents are becoming addicted to their phones and suggests new ways for the industry to improve parental control.

Apple investors represent $ 2 billion in AAPL shares , so Apple's company will surely take this letter as a very serious matter, and will think of new ways to increase the quality of parental control in iOS 12.

In the current versions of iOS, parents can activate some restrictions on their children's iPhones and iPads. This allows to disable Siri, FaceTime, web pages and even the installation of applications of the App Store.

But, as it is well mentioned in the investors' letter, there is no functionality that allows parents to limit the use of iOS devices to their children in parental control. In this way, a schedule could be assigned from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, for example, before the screen is blocked.

What do you think about the parental control of iOS on iPhone and iPad? Do you think it can be improved? Does the iPhone cause addiction in minors?
