"Only" 1 in 10 mobile phones are an iPhone clone

The iPhone X takes less than three months in the market and we already know a series of Android terminals that have managed to clone him with precision. Beware, there are some blatant models such as the Oukitel U18 or the Blackview X , but in general we know that the ancestry of the new Apple flagship is such that companies like Samsung or Huawei will adopt some of the novelties that the disruptive model of the apple implements bitten and what harbors its notch, the key to its current differentiation in the market.

However, incredible as it seems to judge by the feeling of China with the iPhone, Apple's smartphones are not by far the most copied devices in the mobile landscape . AnTuTu, the popular software for benchmarks, has made an analysis of the data it collects and the conclusion does not surprise anyone: Samsung and Apple are the most copied brands.

Apparently, according to AnTuTu, 2.64% of all devices were copies of the best selling terminals in the world in recent years . Okay, that percentage may seem small, but for this we must assess that AnTuTu spend 17,424,726 mobile phones per year, so that 2.64% corresponds to more than 460,000 devices. It is clear that not everyone makes benchmarks, but with more than 17 million devices analyzed, it is a sample to take into account.

Do you want a unique phone? Do not buy a Samsung

However, the difference between both brands is brutal . Samsung is the most copied manufacturer with 36% of the total quota and the iPhone barely reaches 10%. For us to understand, less than 1 in 10 mobile phones are inspired by the iPhone. However, 1 in 3 mobile phones try to copy Samsung models.

Of course, these results obtained by AnTuTu correspond to all devices that benchmarked from January 2017 until the end of that year, so more than the iPhone X, in this study we will find mostly copies of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, although also of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and of course, the iPhone X in the last two months. Of course, during 2017 we saw brands as well-established as OnePlus or Xiaomi inspired by the iPhone 7 and the dual camera of the Plus model .

Why is Samsung more copied than Apple?

Apple and its gadgets reach the status of almost religion for many users , with which their loyalty is above all doubt, regardless of the innovation (or not) of the signature of the bitten apple, price, etc. So much so, that even Samsung laughs about it in their ads .

The causes are more than logical . It is clear that Samsung offers throughout the year a huge number of models for sale to try to get the high, medium and low range, so being so prolific, it is not surprising that it is more likely to be copied. On the other hand Samsung uses Android, an operating system much easier to adopt to be the own of all the clones that will come behind, although it has its own layer. And is that successfully implement some of the exclusive technologies and patented Apple is not easy. In any case, it is said that imitation is the most sincere compliment.
