SOS: These two functions of your iPhone could save your life in case of emergency

Informative news brings us continually unpleasant episodes, the last has to do with the arrest of the alleged killer of Diana Quer. This case was very media due to the circumstances in which they occurred and, among others, due to the appearance of his iPhone 6 in an estuary two months after the disappearance.

And with the return to the forefront of the case, a very stupid hoax has gone viral. It says that making use of the emergency call of the iPhone , this geolocalises your position and sends a police officer (sic) where you are.

The "SOS" of your iPhone will never send a geolocated position to the nearest police station. #STOPBulos

The National Police itself has denied this possibility in its Twitter account . However, the iPhone has a very useful option for cases of danger and we invite you to meet.

How to use SOS Emergency on the iPhone

If you have an iPhone of this 2017, that is, an iPhone X, an iPhone 8 or an iPhone 8 Plus:

  •     Press and hold the side button and one of the volume buttons until the SOS Emergency fader appears.
  •     Drag it to call emergency services. If you continue pressing the side button and the volume button, instead of dragging the slider, a countdown starts and an audible alert sounds . If you press these buttons until the end of the countdown, the iPhone automatically calls emergency services.

If you have an iPhone 7 or earlier:

  •     Press the side button five times and the SOS Emergency slider will appear.
  •     Drag it to call.

Once you have finished talking, your iPhone will send an SMS with location to your emergency contacts, even if you have the option of localization deactivated . Emergency contacts can be easily added from the Health application.
Or install the Alertcops app

From the Ministry of the Interior an application has been developed to notify the security forces and bodies in the case of being in a hurry or witnessing a criminal situation, such as robbery, robbery, gender violence, etc ...

This app allows that, from your iPhone or any device, you can send an alert directly to the police bodies, in a simple and intuitive way and with the objective that you attend quickly and efficiently. If your use is necessary, you will be asked for additional information: where, to whom and when the events occurred. Finally, the confirmation of sending the alert is always requested, which is notified to the relevant bodies together with your location, which is also very accurate.

For that reason, it is better that you go through unfounded hoaxes , do not share them, and make use of the technologies if necessary.
