Everything Siri DOES NOT know how to do

Apple's virtual assistant, Siri , is available in seven different devices: iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac and HomePod. Each year, the company of the bitten apple implements new features, commands and functions in the internal system of its virtual assistant. But there are still many new developments to be covered.

Apple adjusts and configures the Siri software for each device . That is, the answers you get when using voice commands in the virtual assistant are completely different in each of the devices you are using.

Over the past few years, we have had the opportunity to use the Siri functions in the entire Apple family of terminals and we have come to some very interesting conclusions that are worth sharing.

Interesting facts about Siri on Apple's mobile devices

1. Both the iPhone and the iPad are the kings of Siri . These are the devices that provide the most benefits to the virtual assistant and those that offer the best answers.

2. The Apple Watch is the slowest device to respond . Sometimes, it even takes between 5 and 10 seconds to respond.

3. Unfortunately, the Mac is the team with fewer Siri functions. It does not yet have alarms, timers or HomeKit controls for home automation accessories. It also does not have the "Hey Siri" functionality.

4. Apple's new HomePod is the device with the largest range. Siri perfectly listens to voice commands from great distances.

5. The functions of Siri on the Apple TV have much to improve, does not have integration with many third-party applications , suffers a lot with the transcription of other languages and does not respond adequately in most commands.

6. The proactivity of Siri needs to polish the personalization of content even though Apple has been implementing new development paths.
Basic conversions of Siri

Most Apple devices are able to respond correctly to the voice commands of conversions. However, the Apple TV does not.

News and information about Siri

When it comes to getting news in the different categories, Apple TV is still the device with the lowest level of benefits. Again, another opportunity missed by Apple in terms of Siri's information on a screen as large as a television can be.

Siri music content

Obviously, HomePod is one of the devices that offers the best experience when using Siri voice commands to play musical content . But the other Apple devices are not far behind. All of them are able to identify songs, play Apple Music lists or provide information about artists.

Add this song to my favorite playlist

  •     iPhone: Ok, I added 56% Proof of Belleruche to the Favorites playlist.
  •     iPad: Okay, I added 56% Proof of Belleruche to the Favorites playlist.
  •     Apple Watch: Sorry, Sergio, I could not add 56% Proof of Belleruche to the Favorites playlist.

  •     HomePod: Ok, I added 56% Proof of Belleruche to the Favorites playlist.
  •     Mac: Sorry, Sergio, I can not add music to your playlists on this device.

What is this song?

iPhone: I would say that this is "56% Proof" from Belleruche.
iPad: I think it's "56% Proof" by Belleruche.
Apple Watch: I can not help you identify this song on your iPhone.

HomePod: I would say this is "56% Proof" from Belleruche.
Mac: I would say that this is "56% Proof" by Belleruche ... but please do not ask me to sing it.

Tasks and functions of Siri

Once again, Apple TV has been the device that offers fewer features in this category due to obvious reasons. The Apple TV does not have the same native applications as iOS, watchOS or macOS , so Siri is not able to perform all the tasks that are asked.

Write down a note

  •     iPhone: What do you want me to say?
  •     iPad: What do you want me to say?
  •     Apple Watch: I can help you with notes on your iPhone.
  •     Apple TV: Sorry, I can not do that from here.
  •     HomePod: What do you want me to say?
  •     Mac: Okay, I can take a note for you. Just tell me what you want me to say.

Set an alarm for 7 am

  •     iPhone: The alarm is set for 7:00.
  •     iPad: The alarm is set for 7:00.
  •     Apple Watch: Done.
  •     Apple TV: Sorry, I can not help you with the alarms from here.
  •     HomePod: Done, the alarm is set for 7:00.
  •     Mac: I can not set an alarm from here. Do you want to add a reminder?

Conclusions

Siri's response, in general, on Apple's mobile devices in most applications is efficient and practical. However, some devices such as HomePod and Apple TV are not able to perform some actions due to the lack of native applications in their respective operating systems. We hope that Apple will continue to implement new features in its tvOS, watchOS, macOS and iOS software to offer new Siri features in the near future.
