HMD Global presented five new smartphones during the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona: Nokia 8110, Nokia 1, New Nokia 6, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco .

The Nokia 8110 is a retro classic smartphone, the Nokia 1 a low-cost device, the New Nokia 6 is a mid- range smartphone, the Nokia 7 Plus is a premium mid-range terminal and the Nokia 8 Sirocco a spectacular range phone high with Infinity screen. All of them with Android. As you can see, it was a presentation of the most complete.

Yesterday we made a comparison between the Nokia 7 Plus and the iPhone X , and interestingly, despite its large price difference we have a large terminal that has spectacular technical specifications. Recall that the Nokia 7 Plus is a premium mid-range.

Today we will proceed with a comparison between the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Apple's iPhone X. Two completely different high-end terminals.

Comparison - iPhone X vs Nokia 8 Sirocco

In relation to design, the new Nokia 8 Sirocco is simply spectacular. It has an Inifinity screen that covers the entire front of the terminal with a slight curvature at its edges. Both in the upper part and in the lower part it has two frames and in the back it comes with a dual camera and a fingerprint reader .

For its part, the iPhone X does have some thin side bevels . Although it does not have a frame in the lower front. Of course, its controversial "notch" is not visually as aesthetic as the Nokia 8 Sirocco, however this is simply a matter of taste.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is made of stainless steel and the iPhone X with aluminum but both have a glass back cover to facilitate wireless charging . These materials give both terminals a very elegant look and a spectacular finish.

While the Nokia 8 Sirocco is only available in black, the iPhone X has a version in silver and another in space gray. The Nokia range has dimensions of 140.93 x 72.97 x 7.5 mm . The iPhone X of 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm. Finally, it is worth mentioning that both the Nokia 8 Sirocco and the iPhone X do not have a 3.5 mm jack for headphones.

The screen pled QHD of the Nokia 8 Sirocco, one of the most luxurious aspects of the terminal, is 5.5 inches and is made with Gorilla Glass 5. It is a screen slightly smaller than the 5.8-inch OLED screen of the iPhone X .

The Nokia 8 Sirocco has a screen with resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels , 16: 9 aspect ratio and a density of 534 pixels per inch. As for the screen of the iPhone X, it offers a resolution of 1.125 x 2.436 pixels and a density of 458 pixels per inch.

The processor of the new Nokia 8 Sirocco presented yesterday at the Mobile World Congress of 2018 is a Snapdragon 835 Qualcomm eight-core (4 x 2.5 Ghz Kryo and 4 x 1.8 GHz Kryo) and GPU Adreno 540. Along with 6 GB of RAM .

On the other hand, Apple's iPhone X has a Bionic A11 six-core processor developed by TSMC with 64-bit architecture and 3 GB of RAM .

It is two extremely powerful processors. However, the performance on the iPhone X is much higher. The scores of their respective Benchmarks are favorable to the iPhone X with a brutal difference . The data speaks for itself.

This is the Benchmark of the iPhone X:

This is the Benchmark of the Snapdragon 835 of the Nokia 8 Sirocco:

The new Nokia flagship has a built- in dual camera on the back with 12 MP and 13 MP lenses, auto focus, 2x optical zoom and dual LED. As for its front camera, it offers 5 MP . The dual camera of the iPhone X is 12 MP and has optical zoom, dual focus automatic stabilization and True Tone Flash. Its TrueDepth front camera has 7 MP , Portrait Mode, Flash Retina and automatic HDR. But unlike the Nokia 8 Sirocco, it offers Face ID facial recognition .

Price and release date

Being two high-end terminals, both smartphones have a fairly high cost. Apple's iPhone X is available in two versions: € 1,159 (64 GB of storage) and € 1,329 (256 GB of storage). For its part, the Nokia 8 Plus will be available from April for € 749 with storage capacity of 128 GB but with support for MicroSD cards up to 256 GB.

An abysmal price difference , and even more so considering that the technical specifications of both devices are spectacular. Although it should be noted that the cost of iPhone X is slightly higher in Spain due to tax rates abroad. The cost of Apple's smartphone varies drastically in different countries.

At the design level, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is much more conservative. At this point, this design with the Infinity screen no longer surprises anyone. However, despite the innovation of the iPhone X, its controversial design does not like everyone. As we mentioned previously, for tastes the colors. But certainly, and generally, the design of the two smartphones is very visually very elegant.

On the other hand the processing capacity of both terminals is bestial, although we will have to wait to see how the Nokia 8 Sirocco works with Android 8.0 Oreo before analyzing its comparison with the iPhone X. But it will be very difficult for the Nokia terminal to exceed the harmonious fusion of Apple's hardware and software . It should be noted that Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with Android One, a pure layer that will guarantee software updates.

Both phones have IP67 water resistance, Qi wireless charging and dual camera . But the Nokia 8 Sirocco differs from the iPhone X by offering a fingerprint reader, Ozo audio technology and support for MicroSD cards. Another point in favor of Nokia.

However, the iPhone X also has its strengths, such as facial recognition Face ID, Animojis and 3D Touch. Which smartphone is better? Difficult to weigh, will depend on the tastes and / or needs of each consumer. Despite their price difference, both are impressive phones. And which one do you prefer?
