Repairing the HomePod will cost as much as buying it again

Apple's HomePod has been with us for a few days now. Its launch occurred recently, although it is only available in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia , for now.

There have already been many users who have wanted to share their first impressions and the media that have published their video reviews of this curious and spectacular Apple smart speaker.

And today, Apple has updated its website to show its repair services without warranty from HomePod . Interestingly, the costs are almost as high as their initial price.

How much will it cost to repair a HomePod?

HomePod owners who do not purchase the AppleCare + warranty plan will have to pay $ 279 in the United States, 268 pounds in the United Kingdom and $ 399 in Australia to repair their smart speaker for any damage caused. Unless, of course, it is a simple manufacturing defect that Apple would cover within a year.

Very expensive, right? Recall that, for example, in Australia a HomePod costs 499 Australian dollars. Therefore, the repair costs $ 100 less than buying a new one . What madness!

On the other hand, the costs with AppleCare + contracted obviously are drastically reduced . Repairs in the United States would cost 78 dollars, in the United Kingdom 68 pounds and in Australia 114 dollars.

Since the HomePod is a domotic device, functioning as an intelligent speaker, it will always be located in one place (on the living room furniture, in the kitchen or on the bedside table in the room). Therefore, many users will choose NOT to acquire the AppleCare + warranty . But if you have a pet or children, it might be wise to consider hiring the AppleCare + plan.
