Samsung Galaxy S9 vs iPhone X: the user experience

Just a few days ago, Samsung, within the framework of the MWC, showed us its two new flagships of the Galaxy family : the S9 and the S9 +.

Although it has been months since Apple released the iPhone X, the comparison is inevitable: Will Koreans be able to overcome one of the most desired mobile phones? We will not be able to answer this question until we know the sales results, but we can get an idea of the most substantial differences they present. Let's review it:

Design and screen

Both in the Galaxy S9 and S9 + the technical specifications are practically identical except for the screen, where in the S9 we find a screen of 5.8 inches and in the Plus one of 6.2. The weights do not vary much: the smallest of the terminals remains at about 163 grams, while his older brother reaches 189.

For its part, the iPhone stays at about 174 grams, between the two terminals. What can be a decisive factor to opt for one model or another is its screen , and is that the people of Cupertino have made a terminal almost without borders but with that notch that so many rivers of ink has run.

The Samsung Infinity Display, recently crowned as the best screen on a smartphone stands out because it has no borders on the sides but its edges on the top are more accentuated than Apple. What do you stay with?

In the international version that will arrive in Spain in just over a month, the new terminals will equip the Exynos 9810 chip, while in its American version Samsung has opted to use the new Qualcomm chip, the 845. The model that will reach our country is running at 2'9 GHz, promising a brute force and a real blow on the table as far as power in Android is concerned.

On the other hand, Apple's A11 Bionic chip has shown that, although it has been on the market for some time, it surpasses without too many potential problems the Koreans, and we can not forget that Cupertino has traditionally been able to to maintain leadership in power and performance thanks to the optimization present in iOS and the custom design by Apple.

Apple released along with the iPhone X the new facial recognition system, although there have certainly been some problems with it . Although this is a system that will continue to be polished by those in the block in successive updates, there are still many occasions where, as a holder of an iPhone X I still have to put the security code .

Samsung for its part has the iris scan, plus a fingerprint detector to unlock the terminal. Perhaps it is not a system as advanced as the mapping of the contour of the face to identify the owner of the iPhone, but the truth is that it is equally practical .

Functions and extras

As it is evident the last two terminals bring lots of news , and there are many articles to read more thoroughly about everything they bring. In this case, we will emphasize two of the news that have caused the most excitement of the functions and the extras that these terminals have brought with them.

Apple fell in love with tens of thousands of people with the animojis, viralizing from its exit and creating lots of hilarious situations that have gone down in internet history. What he did not like so much is that only users of the iPhone X could enjoy them .

Samsung wanted to take his piece of cake, and that is why he has presented his particular version of the animojis , but with substantial differences : the Emoji AR. Its difference is that, instead of using an emoji, we can create an avatar and use it to animate and share it, or really, do whatever we want.

In matters of storage Apple is still in its thirteen to not allow Micro SD on their device, something that if already bothered its users, more has done when it did not incorporate the option of 128 GB in the iPhone X.

Samsung aims to win the battle to Apple in this area, and that is why in the Galaxy family we still have the opportunity to expand memory . While it is true that we will only have 64 GB of internal memory, we can make it grow up to 400 GB using Micro SD cards. Something very appreciated, considering that iOS users have to go through the box and use storage services in the cloud.

Then what do I do?

That is a question that only the buyer can solve on mobile phones that will be around the same range. While the iPhone X costs 1159 euros in its 64 GB version (although here you have it with a discount of only 888 euros ) and 1329 euros in its 264 GB version, the Galaxy S9 will cost 849 euros in its normal version and 949 euros in its Plus version, a substantial price difference if money is a very relevant factor for you.

We are all aware of our needs and what we want. In this comparison we highlight and compare some of the strongest points of the two terminals, but the truth is that there are opinions for all tastes. If you plan to change your phone soon and do not decide, search, compare and choose the one that best suits your needs .
