56 years and 100 iPhone X in the suitcase, what can go wrong?

A couple of days ago, a 56-year-old man was arrested for hiding 100 iPhone X units in his suitcase when he landed in India on his trip from Dubai.

The man was intercepted by customs security agents at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi (India) . As previously mentioned, he was traveling from Dubai, and was arrested when the agents found the mobile devices hidden in their suitcases.

The agents indicated that the 100 iPhone X devices that the arrested man was carrying had an approximate value of $ 126,600 . Currently, an investigation is being conducted on this case.

Why did he hide so many iPhone X in his suitcase?

The iPhone X is the latest smartphone launched by Apple, and without a doubt, it is the most expensive mobile phone in the history of the company . But the iPhone X is especially expensive in India , for a number of reasons, including import fees for devices manufactured outside the country.

That's why Apple's iPhone X is slightly cheaper in other regions, such as Dubai. This makes buying models of this iPhone to sell in another country is a very lucrative and ... illegal activity.

To get an idea, the 64GB iPhone X costs 1,159 euros in Spain, while in Dubai it costs 983 euros and in India it costs 1,193 euros.

India offers the second most important market for Apple , after China. Perhaps for this reason the company of the bitten apple wants to manufacture its iPhone in that country. And, currently, Apple only reaches a 3% market share of the sale of smartphones in India.

The iPhone X has been the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2018, according to data shared by the firm Strategy Analytics . So this arrested man had a good deal on his hands ... pity it was illegal, we hope he learned the lesson.
