Samsung will have to pay: the judge gives the reason to Apple in the patent trial

The eternal legal battle between Apple and Samsung seems never to end. Just two weeks ago the patent trial between the two companies was reopening . The battle is still very long, remember that it started more than 7 years ago and that Samsung was declared guilty.

Since then everything has been appeals by both parties to try to determine how much Samsung should pay Apple to copy the design of the iPhone. And it seems that the jury of the case has already been decided and the resolution could not leave any of the parties happy.

Samsung will pay 539 million dollars to Apple for copying the iPhone
The jury has been halfway between what Apple requested and Samsung , who did not want to pay anything. Apple was asking for no less than $ 1 billion in compensation. The jury has found Samsung guilty of violating five patents with Android phones that Koreans sold between 2010 and 2011.

However, the figure does not reach 1,000 million and remains at 539 million dollars that Samsung must pay Apple . The decision has been unanimous in the District Court of San José, in the heart of Silicon Valley.

This is good news for the designers. In the patents only the aesthetic elements of a product are described , which obviously can have a great value. But anyway, the trial may not have ended yet.

Samsung does not want to pay Apple
Samsung's lawyer, John Quinn, does not agree with the ruling. "We do not believe that it is supported by the evidence," he said after meeting her. It also ensures that they have "some issues that will be addressed in post-trial movements."

Everything indicates that this could be even longer . Samsung for its part has issued a statement indicating that this has not yet ended.

"TODAY'S DECISION GOES AGAINST A UNANIMOUS DECISION OF THE SUPREME COURT IN FAVOR OF SAMSUNG IN THE SCOPE OF DAMAGES OF DESIGN PATENTS"

"WE WILL CONSIDER ALL OPTIONS TO OBTAIN A RESULT THAT DOES NOT HINDER CREATIVITY AND FAIR COMPETITION FOR ALL COMPANIES AND CONSUMERS"

As for Californians, Apple also offered an official statement explaining their position.

"WE DEEPLY BELIEVE IN THE VALUE OF DESIGN, AND OUR TEAMS HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO CREATE INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS THAT DELIGHT OUR CUSTOMERS. THIS CASE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING MORE THAN MONEY.

APPLE INITIATED THE REVOLUTION OF SMARTPHONES WITH THE IPHONE AND IT IS A FACT THAT SAMSUNG HAS BLATANTLY COPIED OUR DESIGN. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE PROTECT THE WORK AND INNOVATION OF SO MANY PEOPLE AT APPLE "

The endless story between Apple and Samsung adds one more chapter. We'll see if it's the final one. It has always impressed me how two companies that have been in court for so long get along so well when doing business with each other. Samsung manufactures several components of the iPhone, such as the OLED screen . It is the least curious.

Which side are you on: Apple or Samsung?
