Apple reveals what the letter "R" of the iPhone XR means



Recently, from CP, we shared some of the theories and hypotheses about the meaning of the "S" and the "R" of the iPhone XR, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max that Apple has presented during the month of September.

Apple insists that the letter "X" of the nomenclature of its latest generation smartphones comes from "10" in Roman numerals . A letter that was used to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. On the other hand, the signature of the bitten apple ensures that the "S" comes from "speed" (speed).

But ... what does the "R" of the iPhone XR mean? According to Phil Schiller, Apple's executive marketing director, it has a lot to do with sports cars ...

Phil Schiller has spoken with Engadget to finally reveal the mystery. According to Phil, the "R" is often used to refer to very special sports cars in the motor world.

"I LOVE CARS AND THINGS THAT MOVE SO FAST, AND R AND S ARE TWO LETTERS USUALLY USED TO INDICATE SPORTS CARS THAT ARE REALLY SPECIAL."


Some sports cars such as the Jaguar XJR or the Audi RS 7 use the "R" in their nomenclatures . So the "R" of the iPhone XR could mean "rally", "R-type" or even "road and track". Who knows!

Before finalizing, remember that Apple's iPhone XR has already entered its reserve period and will reach the market officially starting on October 26. The iPhone XR features a Bionic A12 processor , 3 GB of RAM, wireless charging, facial recognition, 12 MP cameras and a 6.1-inch LCD screen . Its starting price is 859 euros.
