The electrocardiogram (ECG) of the Apple Watch Series 4 could be activated by changing the region to the US

One of the star functions of the new Apple Watch Series 4 is the electrocardiogram. A really surprising function that, being a medical tool, must be approved by the different health authorities .

Apple already has the approval of the American FCC and expects to obtain permits in more countries soon. Canada is expected to be the next country to accept it and in Europe approval could be general for all countries.

However, we do not know how long this approval can take , but there could be a simple trick to be able to use it from Spain and from any other country.

The ECG of the Apple Watch series 4 can be activated in Spain
First of all, we must know that at the moment the electrocardiogram is not available, it will arrive in a future watchOS update . When this update arrives, users of the Apple Watch Series 4 in the United States will be able to use the ECG.

In spite of this, all the users of the world will be able to use this function with a simple trick: changing the region to the USA . This is something that has worked in the past with other types of services limited by region.

For this we must follow these steps:

  • On the iPhone you should go to Settings> General> Language and Region.
  • Click on Region.
  • We change the one we have to the US.
  • If you follow these steps, when Apple activates the electrocardiogram in a future watchOS update, you can enjoy this function in your Apple Watch Series 4 from Spain or from any other country .

Keep in mind that the change of region will not only affect the Apple Watch, other services offered by Apple may be affected . Although in principle it is not something that should worry you.

At the moment this trick should work, although it is possible that Apple limits it at the time of launching this update in some way. Undoubtedly it is a patch while the official authorization arrives .
