This mask tricks the facial recognition of all smartphones except the iPhone

When Apple introduced Face ID, perhaps the vast majority of users did not give it the importance it deserved. It was not a traditional facial recognition that can be easily tricked, Face ID is a complex biometric recognition system .

Apple itself was responsible for ensuring that even the complex 3D masks could not fool their system , and he was right. A journalist wanted to check the security of facial recognition systems and the only one he can not cheat is the iPhone.

Face ID is the safest system
The journalist Thomas Brewster of Forbes wanted to verify in first person the security of facial recognition systems of several devices. For this he went to a British company called Backface, who is an expert in creating 3D models of your face thanks to three-dimensional photography.

In the test we have an LG G7 ThinQ, an iPhone X, a Samsung Galaxy S9, a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and a OnePlus 6 . All have a facial recognition system created and publicized by companies as an identification system.

The tests have been made with several levels of light but what has been quite clear is that the technology of all these Android devices is not up to the iPhone X , nor the iPhone XS of course.

Under normal lighting conditions, the Samsung Galaxy S9, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the OnePlus 6 fall into the trap of the mask. The LG G7 ThinQ behaves better but in the end it also ends up unlocking with the mask.

The only device that does not get access is the iPhone X and everything has to do with the technology behind Face ID. Apple did not lie with Face ID, it is an extremely secure system.
