Forget about your driving license, your iPhone will soon be available!

Issues related to identity documents have always been the order of the day when talking about the digitalization of our society. Taking into account the technology that we carry every day, it seems incredible that we have to load at this point with several official cards. Cards that, on the other hand, have also come to suffer some setback in their security during these last years.

In a world in which everything, including money, passes through our electronic devices, it does not seem to make much sense that more appropriate alternatives are not offered. Especially when the security systems of our phones have reached a level high enough to protect this type of information. Luckily, we will not have to wait many more years so that carrying a DNI or a driving license is a thing of the past. At least, in certain areas of the world.

In Delaware, USA, a pilot program has been initiated to verify the viability of a "mobile driving license" system, in particular, to prove its safety. There is no doubt that it would be a more effective method, both for administrations and security bodies and for citizens, to access this information. The problem with all this is that, although, as I said before, phones have high levels of security, not all maintain the same level .

In the absence of a security standard in the industry, so to speak, it is difficult to determine if this type of document could be stored in all types of devices. The truth is, it would be a breakthrough that we had the option of saving us to take the cards and enter them on the mobile. But we should establish certain minimums , because an iPhone 10 years ago does not have the same level of security as an iPhone X.

And you, how do you see this type of digitization initiatives?
